What to expect
In my experience, counselling and psychotherapy can be really liberating. You don’t have the concern of burdening me with your problems or saving my feelings, like you might do with friends or family. I hope to be able to create a space for you that feels safe and supportive enough for you to share things that are difficult to discuss with others in your life. I won’t be affected by what you tell me in the same way your loved ones might, and I won’t judge you.
If you decide to contact me, I will offer you a free 30-minute consultation – face-to-face or online – in which you can tell me about your circumstances, I can explain in a bit more detail how I work, and you can decide whether you want to carry on with me.
After that, I would aim to agree a regular time with you each week for a 50-minute session. This can be for as many sessions as you like. Some people prefer to leave it open-ended, while others might like a defined number of sessions. It’s totally up to you – but of course we can discuss that.
Each session will be led by what you want to discuss. Each time we meet might bring about specific things, or your feelings may be different from the time before. Through our relationship, I will be there with you to help you explore your life, untangle your thoughts and address feelings to achieve a deeper understanding of who you are. Through reflection and kind, gentle challenge, we will find new perspectives to even things out and look to bring about some change.
